The Niger State Government and Kent State University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for higher education, developmental interventions, business, and investment.
The MoU was by the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Mustapha Ndajiwo, on behalf of Niger State.
Hon. Ndajiwo, who was accompanied by the Special Advisers to the Governor on Special Duties, Social Investment, and Domestic Affairs, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, Hauwa Bako, and Abdulakeem Oshinuga, also held meetings with representatives from the Office of Global Education, the Department of Administration, the Ohio Governor’s Office, and the Provost of Kent State University.
“On behalf of the Niger State Government, the Hon. Commissioner signed a Letter of Intent with Kent State’s Provost, building on a previously signed Global MoU by the Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to pursue specific initiatives in the pilot phase of the partnership.
“Niger State has secured a startup location for the centre at Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna.
The Centre, set to launch soon, will oversee several programs, including a two-plus-two degree initiative where undergraduate students from Niger State can complete the first two years of their studies in Nigeria and the remaining two years in the United States at half the tuition cost.
“Students also have the option to study fully online from Nigeria, earning either a U.S. degree or a dual degree (U.S. and Nigerian).
“Additional areas of collaboration include student and lecturer exchange programmes, executive and leadership programmes, aviation studies, vocational skills development, fashion, sports, and investment opportunities through the State of Ohio.
“This growing partnership between Niger State and Kent State University promises to deliver significant benefits across various sectors,” the statement issued by the Niger State Government stated.
