Niger deputy gov commissions 20-bed capacity ward in Shiroro

The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has inaugurated a 20-bed capacity ward at Kuta General Hospital in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.

The ward, named after Alhaji Akilu Musa Kuta, was constructed by the Okoknyi Consultative Forum to bridge the infrastructure gap in the hospital and support the state government’s health reforms.

Garba commended the forum for the project, stating that “it would bridge the infrastructural gap in the hospital and complement the state government’s health reforms initiative.”

According to him, “This 20-bed capacity ward was built by the think-tank people of Kuta to provide access to secondary healthcare services for the residents of the 15 wards of Shiroro.”

He urged well-to-do individuals and groups in Shiroro LGA to emulate the gesture of the Okoknyi Consultative Forum, promising support for groups with positive intentions.

The Deputy Governor assured support for groups, irrespective of their political or religious affiliations, that have positive intentions toward the development of the council.

He stated that the state government has begun the construction of 100 health facilities and is recruiting 1,000 healthcare workers to address infrastructure and manpower shortages.

The Chairman of the Okoknyi Consultative Forum, Alhaji Suleiman Dauda Kuta, also remarked that the project was part of their corporate social responsibility.

According to him, the project complements existing hospital structures to accommodate patients and treat victims of banditry from Allawa, Gurumana, and Kukoki communities, all in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
