Niger CP engages hoteliers in fight against thuggery

Published by

In a further step to stem the tide of thuggery challenges in the State, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, held a Stakeholders’ meeting with hoteliers in Minna, at the State Police Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna on Thursday 24th April, 2025

The Commissioner of Police informed the hoteliers that they were invited for an interactive session over the menace of thuggery that has been disturbing the city.

He noted that some of the miscreants committing thuggery in the State are not from Minna, and they usually commit these vices with the use of tricycles and motorcycles, robbing unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables and causing injuries or even death.

He asserted that mostly, proceeds of the crime are being used to lodge in one hotel or the other, thereby getting shelter from the hoteliers knowingly or unknowingly.

The Commissioner of Police said he has come to assist the hoteliers in their business and to assist the State in the area of protection of lives and property.

He charged the members to assist security agencies in sanitising the city by providing intelligence, observing their customers and should not accept more persons in a room.

He urged them to assist the Police in arresting thugs and miscreants disturbing the peace in the city.

He noted that a lot of the miscreants have been arrested, including those who committed culpable homicide recently.

He asserted that there is no infringement on anyone’s right, because this effort is in the interest of security of the State, and that every human rights has limitations, most especially when it affects the rights of other persons; such as robbing people of their valuables, causing injuries on innocent persons, and even causing unnecessary loss of life.

The members appreciated the efforts of the Commissioner of Police and assured of their support and cooperation.

They also used the opportunity to tender some of their challenges with security agencies, while the CP advised them accordingly.
