Niger coup: Immigration boss visits Illela to access compliance with border closure order 

The acting Comptroller General of Immigration, CG Caroline Wuraola Adepoju, on Wednesday stormed Illela local government area of Sokoto State to ascertain the level of compliance with border closure to Niger Republic.

Speaking while addressing newsmen at the entry post between Nigeria and Niger Republic, the acting CG expressed happiness at the level of compliance at the border post.

She commended men and officers at the Illela command as well as other sister security agencies for their synergy in ensuring that the level of compliance at the border post is optimum.

“I am here to see the level of compliance here and I must confess that what I saw is commendable as both my personnel and those of other sister security agencies are cooperating perfectly.

“All the land borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic were closed for security reasons and will remain so until the level of security in Niger Republic.

“I want to appeal to our host community here in Illela to be patient with the government because security of lives is very important to the government and we will do everything to protect our people,” the CG stated.

She however assured that the command has put in place measures to protect the lives of personnel from any further attacks from bandits and other criminals.

Adepoju further disclosed that more personnel has been deployed to some of the areas not covered before now along the border towns which she explained will improve the security not only in Sokoto State but also across the country.
