A Non-governmental Organization identified as National Association of Seadogs Pyrates Confraternity has offered a free medical services to 800 persons in Orogwe Community in Owerri West Council Area of Imo State
The medical services held to address sickness ranges from both communicable and non communicable disease, eyes and malerial problems amongst others.
Addressing newsmen at the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) Orogwe venue for the medical mission, the President and Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Dr. Joseph Oteri said that there medical mission to Orogwe Community was part of the activities of their annual general meeting (AGM) in the state.
He said that during the AGM converge, a community that has not benefited from Government larges would be selected for assistance in line with their vision.
The CEO said that to achieve this positive results, NAS will bring both financial and human resources to assist such community.
He said: “that is why you can see a lots of Medical Doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel here today”.
Dr. Oteri said that since 1962 when NAS Pyrates Confraternity was formed, it has involved itself in this kind of medical mission as well as a legal assistance amongst others.
While commending the programme especially the turnout, the CEO said that before now different chapters of NAS used to hold the medical mission untill 2010 when it was decided to be carried centrally to support communuties.
In his brief speech, the Chief Program Officer of NAS, Chief Barth Akelemor said that the idea of NAS is to continue to promote a society where people will have access to medical services, employment opportunitirs amongst others areas.
He said that their major roles lies basically to ensure that the vision of NAS are achieved adding that their mission to Orogwe community is to provide free medical health care services to people who ordinarily cannot afford money to go to hospital for medical care.
According to him any case that they cannot handle in the centre would be referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri for prompt attention.
Responding, three beneficiaries of the NAS medical mission Mrs. Sylvia Igwe, PA Ezinna Onuoha Linus and a 31 year old Chizoba Igwe thanked the organizers for chosing Orogwe community for their medical assistance.
They expressed joy for the kind medical threatment provided for them and to other beneficiaries who also turned out .
