A non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Home of Ni’ima in Niger State carried out a charity outreach and distributed food items to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Chairperson of Home of Ni’ima, Hajiya Rahina Muhammad Abubakar, while handing out food items to the victims, expressed concerns about the humanitarian needs impacting society.
She called on kind-hearted and well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of those in need and the less fortunate in the greater community.
Home of Ni’ima helps those in need by seeking assistance from wealthy individuals who want to help but don’t have the time or prefer not to be recognised.
Hajiya Rahina said hearing about the plights of residents in the refugee camp encouraged her to act quickly to rescue innocent people and provide food for refugees.
She noted that the foundation’s main purpose was to provide support where necessary, such as efforts to reduce the sufferings of people in internally displaced persons camps.
She commended the camp’s leader for coordinating the people and advised him to ensure that every household in the camp gets an equal share of the food items, irrespective of where they come from.
Some recipients of the food items expressed gratitude for the assistance. Hajiya Rahina took the opportunity to appeal to the incumbent Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago-led government in the state to ensure that refugees return home after the ongoing rains.
