The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is set to commission 100 micro-projects across the 21 local government areas in the state.
These projects are part of the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG CARES) Programme of the state government, aimed at alleviating economic challenges in communities to enhance access to basic social infrastructure.
This revelation was made by the General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda Momoh, during the ongoing training of the Community and Group Project Management Committees at Okene, Kogi State.
The training is intended to empower them in areas of project supervision, monitoring, evaluation, as well as financial management, procurement, documentation, and record-keeping.
According to Chief Momoh, the new Kogi State administration, under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is poised to ensure the provision of basic service facilities in all rural communities and among Gender and Vulnerable Groups in the state to cushion the economic difficulties brought about by COVID-19.
The General Manager, who praised the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for laying the foundation that facilitated a seemingly smooth transition for continuity, added that the state’s sectors of intervention are health and social services, education, water and sanitation, and nutrition service, with micro-projects spanning clinic renovation and construction of clinics.
Others include the provision of clinic equipment and drugs, the renovation and construction of schools, the Construction of ICT Centers, the Provision of Desks and Instructional Materials, the Supply of Books, the Renovation, and the Construction of Libraries.

The list also encompasses Water projects in the form of motorized boreholes, water reticulation, and scheme reactivation.
Some communities and groups are also supported for the enhancement of their nutrition. The nutrition sector interventions range from sensitization to the provision of supplements and nutrition support centre.
The ongoing training is scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 24th of February 2024 at Okene for forty communities and groups across the 21 LGAs of Kogi State.
