Newly elected president of Rotary Club of Ibadan-Akobo, Linda Oladapo, has called for the full support of members to lift the club to greater heights.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony on Sunday, Oladapo expressed her happiness being the president, just as she called for the support of members to achieve set goals and objectives.
Oladapo promised not to let the club down, adding that she would continue from where her predecessor stop.
The Investiture also saw four new members inducted by the District Governor, Funkeakpo Ken Batife.
“Finally, it is an absolute honour and privilege to accept to be the president of the Rotary Club Ibadan-Akobo; but as we all know that ‘a tree doesn’t make a forest’, therefore, I will greatly appreciate your full support and prayers to lift our club to greater heights by achieving our goals and objectives for the Rotary year, 2025-2026.”
Furthermore, the 17th president assured to give her best, with the new board of directors sworn in, and promised not to let the members down.
“This is truly a moment to be honoured and cherished. I accept this appointment with pride and will give it my best shots with the new Boards of Directors being sworn in today as well and that you will not regret your choice of choosing us to represent you. With the grace of God and the cooperation of all members, I will devote my time and myself to the obligations and duties of this post more and more.”
Meanwhile, the past immediate president, Olufunsho Jegede, has advised the new president to engage members and seek consultation when necessary.
“She should engage members in all of the activities as she can’t do it all by herself, she need to be lively with them. Also, she should ask questions if there’s need for her to and should also consult people.”
Also, Chairman, Investiture Ceremony Committee, Mr Michael Okedele, assured of maximum support for the new president, while urging members to embrace the new executive and give their support in making their tenure to be successful.
The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, charged the new president and the members to continue with their humanitarian service.
The guest speaker, Professor Olayiwola Shittu, advised on prostate cancer is a growth of cells that starts in the prostate.
He said prostate is a small gland that helps make semen saying “Prostate cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cells in the prostate, a gland in the male reproductive system below the bladder.”
