Netflix, the global streaming service with millions of subscribers, suffered a major outage on Tuesday, leaving more than 11,000 users in the United States and Canada unable to stream content.
The disruption began around 6:15 p.m. ET, with subscribers reporting difficulties loading shows and films.
Data from outage tracker DownDetector showed complaints peaked at over 11,500 by 9:30 p.m. before dropping to about 6,600 by 10:30 p.m. Some users said access had been restored, but many still experienced issues.
About 66% users said they had streaming problems, 19% reported server connection errors, and 15% had trouble with the app itself.
Netflix acknowledged the disruption on its help centre, saying, “You may have problems streaming titles on some devices.”
However, as at the time of this report, the company had not released details on what caused the issue or when full service would be restored.
