The Managing Director of the agency, Mr Peter Ewesor, gave the warning at the capacity building and training programme is organised for its staff in Lagos.
Ewesor said that the warning became necessary because of the influx of substandard electrical products, especially pre-paid meters, into the country.
“The agency will not hesitate to flag products that do not comply with standards.
“Once we test any electrical product and we find that the product does not meet standards, the product will be impounded.
“We will also report substandard products to the electricity distribution companies to ensure such a product is not used by them,” he said.
“We are well prepared ahead for the influx of pre-paid meters into the country and we have increased our capacity both in human resources and our laboratories.

He said that the country’s laboratories in Kaduna and Oshodi in Lagos built to carry out the test would be ready by July.
Ewesor said that the aim of the training programme was to ensure the workers were given the required skills to meet the agency’s mandate.
