The Alumnae Association of the 1984 Set of New Era Girls’ Secondary School (NEGSS), Surulere, Lagos State says it has scheduled the inauguration of a Chemistry Laboratory as part of its 40th graduation anniversary coming up between October 17 and 18.
Governor of the 1984 set, Erelu Olubukola Johnson-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune.
The event, which is holding at the school’s auditorium in Surulere, highlights the alumnae’s dedication to enhancing science education at NEGSS.
She said that the refurbished Chemistry Laboratory had been upgraded with cutting-edge equipment and resources.
“This initiative aims to create a modern, effective learning environment for students, representing the alumnae’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and their legacy of contributing to the school’s development,” she said.
Adeyemi added that aside from the inauguration of the laboratory, thanksgiving ceremony will be held to celebrate the numerous achievements of NEGSS alumna and to express gratitude for four decades of shared success.
e said the event will serve as a reflection on the school’s rich history and the lasting impact it had made on its graduates and the wider community.
The anniversary’s planning committee, Mrs Folashade Balogun Jose, stressed that the historic occasion will be a landmark celebration of education, innovation and community spirit.
She added that the event is expected to attract prominent figures from various sectors, including government officials, education stakeholders and distinguished alumni, saying that it would also be an incredible opportunity to give back to both the school and society, marking a milestone of gratitude, progress and unity.
