In an effort to boost classroom excellence, the North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), has successfully taken 600 primary and secondary school teachers through capacity-building training in Yola.
The capacity-building workshop, which drew participants from all three senatorial zones of the state, was designed to enhance the professional skills of teachers and promote excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA).
The training also included modules in classroom and school management, guidance and counselling, quality assurance, and English language proficiency.
This initiative, championed by ADSUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr Murtala Umar Babayi, is part of the Teachers’ Professional Development (TPD) Department and aims to empower educators with innovative teaching strategies that reflect global best practices.
Director of TPD, Mohammed Sani Musa, highlighted the importance of equipping teachers to become problem-solvers who can leverage technology and modern methodologies to improve student performance.
Lead Consultant, Dr Lawan Bukar Alhaji, who supervised the training, emphasised the programme’s goal of revolutionising teaching practices across public schools in Adamawa. According to him, “This landmark training has armed teachers with the competence, confidence, and creativity required to inspire the next generation of leaders.”
He added, “With support from both NEDC and ADSUBEB, Adamawa is on the path to becoming a beacon of educational transformation in the North East.”
