THE primate of the Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend (Dr) Henry Ndukuba has charged bishops and their wives to be exemplary leaders in their dioceses, setting high spiritual and moral standards for their episcopacy.
Ndukuba stated this during a Zoom meeting at the just-concluded training that hosted the church’s new bishops, at the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State.
The primate prayed for the coordinators and all participants, asking for God’s guidance and grace to complete the training successfully.
The training approved by the primate was coordinated by the Most Reverend Dr Friday John Imaekhai and the Most Rev Dr Emmanuel Egbunu, with the General Secretary of the Church, the Ven. Dr Gershinen Paul Dajur, assisting in facilitating the sessions.
Eleven new bishops and their wives are participating in the programme, which features lectures from prominent Archbishops, Bishops, and members of the laity. The sessions have been designed to equip the Bishops with the tools needed for effective ministry.
Highlights of the training include a lecture by the Dean of the Church of Nigeria on Bishops, Clergy, and Wives’ Development, as well as discussions on expository preaching, the health and well-being of Bishops and their wives, the discipline and ethics of episcopal ministry, and a deeper understanding of the Anglican Church’s heritage, historic formularies, and liturgy.
The training also addressed the importance of appropriate episcopal dressing has also been emphasised, ensuring a holistic approach to their preparation for ministry.
