Nduka Ohaeri emerges PENGASSAN President

The immediate past National Industrial Relations Officer of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Nduka Ohaeri, has emerged the National President of the union.

Comrade Ohaeri defeated the Deputy President, Comrade Frank Esumobi, who has been acting as the PENGASSAN President, since the sudden death of Comrade Olabode Johnson.

He defeated Comrade Esumobi, after an election organised by the union following an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) called to fill the three positions left unoccupied as a result of the death of the former president.

About 121 members voted to decide the winner, from which Comd. Ohaeri got over 80 votes to defeat the acting President.

Also elected are the National Industrial Relations Officer, Comrade Kingsley C. Ajoku and the National Auditor II, Comrade Kiri Barile.

However, the present tenure will run for only 10 months, as PENGASSAN will hold their delegate Conference in June next year after the expiration of the tenure of the present executives.

The election became very imperative as majority of the members of the union didn’t want the Comd. Esumobi to continue in acting capacity till the end of their tenure.

However, Comrade Esumobi has immediately congratulated the new president, saying, “I congratulate you as on you is placed our burden for the next 10 months. I will do my best to support you genuinely during this period as we both exit by June next year.”

The Warri Zonal Council of PENGASSAN has also congratulated newly elected President and the other elected members.

“It is our desire and prayer that the good Lord will grant you all whatever it will take to unite us all and lead our great Association in the right direction.

“To our President, the wisdom of Solomon and strength of Samson is what we ask God to grant you. Remember all your members will not behave thesame way, so we also ask for the spirit of tolerance. We trust God that you will lead us aright.

“Congratulations once more and may God grant us all good health of mind, soul and body.”  The council said.
