THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, arrested a total of 51 suspects in the first quarter of 2017.
According to a statement made available by the Public Relations Officer, Mutiat Okuwobi, on behalf of the state commander, Omolade Faboyede, the command also seized 1933.277 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa and other substances of abuse from circulation, while 17 suspects were also convicted to jail terms ranging from six months to five years.
“During the period under review, brief intervention was also given to some drug dependants through counselling, and they were integrated back to the society, while some are still undergoing rehabilitation,” the statement read.
The PRO further stated that the anti-drug agency would continue to do its best in frustrating the activities of drug peddlers in the state and in the nation at large.
