The Nigerian Navy has dismantled four illegal refining sites in Delta State, seizing thousands of litres of stolen crude oil and illegally refined diesel.
Personnel from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos conducted the operation on 26th February at Obodo in Omadino Community, Warri South West LGA.
Acting on credible intelligence, they discovered and deactivated sites containing approximately 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The materials were stored in five ovens, 11 dugout pits, and 25 polythene sacks.
The raid was carried out in support of Operation Delta Sanity II, part of the Navy’s wider campaign against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and economic sabotage.
The success of the operation underscores the Navy’s commitment to enforcing the strategic directives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla.
Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, issued a stern warning to those involved in illegal refining:
“Economic saboteurs in the oil sector must desist from these unlawful activities. We will stop at nothing to deny them freedom of action and ensure they face justice.”
The Nigerian Navy has reaffirmed its resolve to root out all illegal activities within the maritime environment, ensuring national economic security.
