THE National Agricultural Commodities Projects (NACP) has alerted Nigerians and farmers over a recent message circulating about dry season farming which did not emanate from the body.
A statement signed by the President and Secretary of NACP, John Aderibigbe and Dr Austin Maduka respectively, warned the public to be cautious of the fraudsters who are parading as members of the Association in order to dupe unsuspecting farmers.
The statement reads “be cautious of messages containing incorrect information, including collection of N3,000 from farmers for data digitisation and onboarding to the National Farmers Data Bank, data capture from September 15 to October 15, distribution of inputs in November, including water pumping machines, fertilisers, seeds, and herbicides and Federal Government paying 69 percent of the total cost as palliative to boost agriculture and food security”.
The statement noted that the initiatives of NACP are driven by public-private partnerships (PPP), where farmers contribute equity and pay balance of production at harvest.
“For reliable information on dry season farming initiatives, contact our National Officers and Collection Heads across the states. They’ll provide accurate and up-to-date information on our various programs”, the statement added.
