Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, the Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI), has emphasized that the declaration of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the legitimately elected Senator of Kogi State Central Senatorial District will open doors for more women to enter the realm of governance without fear.

In a statement released by Agbogun on Thursday, the Executive Director of CPI acknowledged Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s victory as a testament to the indomitable spirit of women. She described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s journey as a remarkable achievement that serves as a beacon of hope and determination for women nationwide.

Agbogun also highlighted Natasha’s unwavering resilience in the face of adversity, underlining her strength of character and commitment to the cause of women in governance.

The statement reads, in part, “The challenges Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan overcame and the hurdles she faced mirror the struggles that many women encounter in their pursuit of active participation in governance. Her victory is not just a personal triumph; it is a triumph for every woman who has dared to dream and aspire to lead.”

“In Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s perseverance, we find the embodiment of courage and tenacity. Her ability to navigate the obstacles thrown in her path with grace and determination is a shining example of the power of unwavering dedication. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s journey will serve as an enduring source of inspiration, reminding women everywhere that they should never yield to discouragement or setbacks in their pursuit of equal representation and participation in the political arena.”

“As an organization dedicated to championing the rights of women and promoting gender equality, we are immensely proud of her achievements. CPI has closely followed the Senator’s political career, including her gubernatorial ambition in 2019. We were one of the organizations that campaigned against Stop Violence Against Women In Politics (Stop VAWIP) in Kogi State. The aftermath of the 2019 election was what pushed us to campaign for the domestication of the VAPP Law. Now that the VAPP has been passed into law, we will continue to work to ensure its effective implementation in the state.”
