The Director of Media and Corporate Communications at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Felix Ale has commended the proposal for the establishment of the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics (FUAORO) in Oka-Akoko, Ondo state.
Ale, in a statement, explained that “the vision of the specialized University is to excel in high-quality teaching, research, development, and innovation learning with strong capacity to compete globally in space science and engineering.”
He stressed that the university would bridge the gap between industry and academia, fostering an environment that enhances research quality and economic impact.
“The University is planned to bridge the gap between the industrial sector and the academia by creating an enabling environment that will help the students and staff to acquire skills and maximise their potential in strengthening research quality for knowledge transfer and economic impact for the benefit of humanity,” he said.
Ale urged President Tinubu to prioritise the establishment of the university, noting that its commencement would be a landmark achievement under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He asserted, “The presidential assent and commencement of academic works in the proposed university will no doubt remain one of the high points of the numerous achievements of the present administration under its Renewed Hope Agenda for transformation in the educational and technological sectors.”
Ale further expressed confidence that the university would gain global recognition. “The institution will also be a cynosure of attraction and reference points by the international community, particularly the intellectual and prestigious community of the space practice across the globe,” he stated.
He reaffirmed NASRDA’s commitment to leveraging space-based solutions to tackle national challenges, including poverty, disease, hunger, and socio-economic issues.
According to him, “this is where its educational intervention through the establishment of the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics finds relevance” the spokesman stated.
