The Senate on Tuesday finally confirmed the nomination of Nnanna Uzor Kalu as Commissioner representing the South-East in the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).
His confirmation was sealed shortly after the Red Chamber considered a report by its Committee on Establishment and Public Service presented by its Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi.

Senator Fasuyi recalled that Kalu’s nomination initially suffered setback as a result of a petition raised by the previous NASC Board.
Checks revealed that the Senate had on March 19 approved the appointment of the chairman of the NASC alongside 11 members.
Senator Fasuyi clarified that Kalu who incidentally is the younger brother of the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial district and the former Governor of Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, had since been investigated and cleared by the Committees on Code of Conduct and Public Petitions.
Senator Fasuyi told his colleagues that the Senate Committee on Ethics, led by Ned Imasuen, in its findings, discovered that the petition lacked merit, which informed Kalu’s confirmation by the
Committee on Establishment and Public Service.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio urged the new appointee to approach his duty with seriousness, fairness, and strict adherence to the constitution.
