NAPS spokesman lauds federal fire service boss

Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye and federal fire service boss, Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi

It has been a tale of positivity and commendations at the Nigerian Federal Fire Service as the efforts of the Comptroller General have been ably noted and commended by the students community.

Public Relations Officer of National Association of Polytechnic Students NAPS, Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the FFS at Garki, Abuja on Wednesday 15th of August commended the FFS boss, Engr Joseph Garba Anebi, for the remarkable reforms that have been happening in the agency since the inception of his tenure four years ago.

In his speech, Ijaduoye highlighted the promotion of over 180 officers in the spate of two years. He also mentioned the refurbishing and servicing of broken down and obsolete equipments, upgrade of old facilities with the construction of hostel facilities for the academy, libraries, staff quarters with good road network.

“The landmark improvements in the aspects of education and training, he said, can not be overruled: affiliation of National Fire Academy with the Nigeria Defense Academy through a Memorandum of Understanding for award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Degrees and professional Masters Degrees in Disaster Management. As well as the inclusion of academic journals for the purpose of gathering thoughts and ideas from scholars in Nigeria with respect to fire-fighting activities in the country.”

Ijaduoye emphasised that the procurement and commissioning of new modern and sophisticated fire fighting trucks, water tankers and other fire fighting equipments is worthy of commendation.

“These distinct achievements place Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi aside and reveals his passion and vision for the Fire Service and humanity at large. This is also an indicator that he understands the need for adequate welfare of personnel as sine qua non for productivity and growth” Ijaduoye was quoted.

However, Comrade Ijaduoye called for fairness in the recruitment process of the Fire Service. He downplayed the role of the Bsc /HND dichotomy as an impediment to technological advancements in the country.

In his address, the Comptroller General, appreciated the Hon Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau rtd for his support and also the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for the stable and reliable leadership that has been helpful for the Federal Fire Service and the nation.

Engr Joseph Garba Anebi also assured that he will ensure fairness and equity in subsequent recruitments as well as ensuring that the dichotomy between HND / Bsc certificates be a thing of the past.
