The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Oyo State has warned authorities of Federal College of Forestry, Moor Plantation against the planned proscription of Student Union Government (SUG) activities on the campus.
NANS, in a statement issued and signed by its state Chairman, Olujuwon Asubiojo, also backed the demand by the college’s SUG for the accreditation of courses before the commencement of the 2nd-semester examination in the school.
Tribune Online reports that the second-semester examination was scheduled to start today, April 29, 2019.

The students’ body feared that upon the completion of the examinations, HND students cannot proceed for the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme while the ND counterparts cannot further their educational pursuits.
NANS threatened to lead thousands of students in protest should the management go forward with its planned action.
The statement reads: “The attention of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State Chapter has been drawn to the mischievous plan of the management of Federal College of Forestry, Moor plantation to proscribe the Students’ Union Government for rightly demanding that the management accredits courses before the commencement of 2nd Semester examination on Monday 29th, April 2019.
“The Students Union Government has written a series of letters to the management to remind them of the need for accreditation before the examination.
“These reasons include the well-known fact that without accreditation of courses, HND students will not be mobilised for service and ND students will not be eligible to further their educational pursuits by Direct Entry.
“NANS Oyo State wishes to remind the general public and concerned stakeholders that it is the same accreditation issue that led to the inability of students of Ibarapa Polytechnic who graduated in 2017 to proceed for the mandatory National Youth Service, hence, the lockdown of the institution on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019.
“NANS, Oyo State, therefore, joins the call for accreditation before the examination and seriously warns the management against proscribing the union as they will have the thousands of Nigerian Students in Oyo State to contend with if they do,” the statement said.
