The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected a new set of national leaders.
The new leaders were elected during the association’s 2025 National Convention held on Wednesday at Old Parade Ground, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Terriitory.
They will steer the affairs of the association for the next one year.
In a statement made available to Tribune Online on Thursday by the chairman of the 2025 national convention of the group, Suleiman Seriki, the election was not only free, fair, and peaceful, but also served as a new precedent for a well-organised democratic transition within NANS.

Those who emerged as the new officers and their portfolios include Oladoja Olusola(National President-elect), Anzaku Shedrack(General Secretary- elect), Usman Adamu (Senate President-elect), Adeyemi Samson(Public Relations Officer-elect) and Adejuwon Olatunji (Assistant Secretary-General- elect), among others.
The new president-elect, who is a postgraduate student of University of Jos (UNIJOS), polled a total of 300 votes, defeated Salauhudeen Suleiman, a student of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly University of Abuja) and Gambo Abubakar from Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University Lapai, Niger State.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Ladoja, who will succeed Lucky Emonefe, expressed gratitude to Nigerian students for their confidence in him and other elected officers even as he pledged to prioritize their welfare and engage in advocacy for improved policies on issues that affect them as well as the educational development generally.
According to him, “This victory is not just for me and my team but for every Nigerian student.
“So, my administration will focus on repositioning our dear association, NANS, to be truly student-centered, proactive, and impactful.
“We will foster unity among members, engage relevant stakeholders in meaningful dialogues, and ensure that our advocacy translates into desirable results.
“So, our top priorities will include education, student welfare, and the protection of students’ rights.
“We will push for policies that enhance the standard of learning and improve the quality of education across our campuses.”
“So, we will all work together to ensure that NANS remains a strong and formidable voice for Nigerian students at home and in the diaspora,” he further promised.
Furthermore, other elected officers also expressed commitment and readiness to bring their wealth of experiences to their respective roles and work together for the good of NANS, all its members and the education sector as a whole
They emphasised the need for cooperation and support of all NANS members and other stakeholders, especially in campuses, to drive the association to a greater height.
They said on their part, they would not renege on their campaign promises.
