NANS condemns Anambra Church killings

Massacre of innocent worshippers at St. Philip's church, Ozubulu, Anambra

THE National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the Sunday attack and killing of about 35 worshippers of the St. Philips Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu in Anambra State.

NANS President, Comrade Aruna Kadiri, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja said the student body joined millions of Nigerians to mourn with the government and good people of Anambra state over the gruesome killings.

Kadiri, in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of NANS, Okereafor Bestman Opeyemi, called on the Inspector General of Police to order proper investigation into the massacre with the view to bringing the perpetrators to book.

The statement said: “NANS condemns this evil act and calling on the IGP to set up a special committee in collaboration with other security agents to investigate the Massacre and circumstances surrounding it.”

“The yet to be identified gunmen who invaded St Philip’s Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state, must be arrested and brought to book.”

“We demand justice and equity, it’s noteworthy to state categorically that we have a Nigerian students in every street and community of the federation so therefore our constituency is equally affected.”
