Nigerian Afrobeats star Naira Marley has announced that he will break his silence on the death of his former signee, Mohbad, in an exclusive interview scheduled for 8 PM today on the Marlian Music YouTube channel.
In a tweet, Marley wrote: “Meet me on YouTube @8pm. It’s time to tell my side of the story…”
Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba) tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, at age 27, sparking nationwide grief and controversy.
The late singer had previously reported threats to his life from Marley, his former boss at Marlian Records, and was admitted to a hospital for an ear infection before his death.
His body was later exhumed for an autopsy as part of ongoing investigations.
Marley was arrested on October 3, 2023, and spent about 44 days in custody before a court cleared him and two others, music promoter Samson ‘Sam Larry’ Eletu and Owodunni ‘Primeboy’ Ibrahim of any involvement in Mohbad’s death on February 26, 2025, following advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Despite the legal clearance, public opinion remains divided, with some fans and industry insiders demanding accountability while others await Marley’s upcoming interview for his perspective on the events.
The exclusive session is expected to provide Marley’s account of the tragic circumstances and may offer new insights into one of Nigeria’s most talked-about music controversies.
Fans can watch the interview on the Marlian Music YouTube channel at 8 PM today.
