The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has returned a cheque worth N5 million to its owner, Mr. Godfrey Chukwudi, after it was discovered during an enforcement operation at the open drug market on Tenant Road, Aba, Abia State.
In a statement on Monday, NAFDAC said the sum was found and carefully counted in the presence of security operatives who took part in the exercise.
According to the statement, it was later confirmed that the money belonged to a point-of-sale (POS) operator.
The cheque was officially handed back to the owner in the presence of Mr. Chima Amadi, Chairman of the Ekumi Traders Medicine Dealers Association Union, alongside NAFDAC directors, Pharm. Shaba Mohammed and Dr. Martins Iluyomade.
The statement reads, “NAFDAC has returned a ₦5 million cheque to its owner, Mr. Godfrey Chukwudi. The money was discovered during the Open Drug Market operation at Tenant Road, Aba, Abia State. The sum was counted in the presence of the various security personnel who participated in the operation.
“It was confirmed that the funds belonged to a POS operator. The money was subsequently returned in the presence of Mr. Chima Amadi, Chairman of the Ekumi Traders Medicine Dealers Association Union, alongside NAFDAC Directors, Pharm. Shaba Mohammed and Dr. Martins Iluyomade.”
