The Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), on Thursday, disclosed that, with effect from the 2026 academic session, the Board will introduce Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for all its enrollees.
Making the disclosure while addressing the management and staff of the Board, the newly appointed Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed-Aminu, who assumed office on Thursday, promised to prioritise staff welfare, create a conducive working environment, and focus on capacity building, among other initiatives.
The new NABTEB boss also assured that he would ensure the Board aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As we gather here today, I am reminded of Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasises the importance of technical education in driving national development and economic growth.
“As the Registrar of NABTEB, I am committed to aligning our efforts with this vision, ensuring that our programmes and initiatives contribute to the realisation of this noble goal,” he stated.
Mohammed-Aminu emphasised that digitisation of the examination process would improve “the conduct of examinations because the credibility, integrity, and efficiency of our examination processes constitute the bedrock of our existence as an examination body.
“Any compromise in these areas undermines our fundamental purpose and threatens the value of the certificates we issue.”
He added, “We will accelerate the digitisation of our examination processes, from registration to result processing and certificate issuance. This will minimise human errors, reduce processing time, and enhance the overall efficiency of our operations.
“We will deploy advanced security protocols to safeguard the integrity of our examination materials and processes. This includes the use of biometric verification, encrypted question papers, and real-time monitoring systems.”
He said his administration would also explore existing grants for technical and vocational education, in addition to ensuring recognition for hard work and the promotion of staff as and when due.
Earlier, the Director of Special Duties at NABTEB, Mr Olugbenga Ojogbede, in his welcome address, described the appointment of Dr Mohammed-Aminu Mohammed as the 5th substantive Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB as timely.
“With your wealth of experience, vision, and dedication, we are confident that you will steer this Board to even greater heights.
“We know that the responsibilities ahead are enormous, but we also know that your passion for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and your strategic insights will guide us in fostering a fair and credible examination system,” Ojogbede eulogised.
