Former national chairman of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Senator Victor Umeh has offset school fees of students under the Victor Umeh Education Foundation, to the tune of N10 million in Anambra State.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the event which took place at the benefactor’s country home, Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday, attracted the Vicar General Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, Reverend Father Anthony Chiegboka, Government House Chaplain, Reverend Father Raphael Onyekwelu, some of the beneficiaries, Stakeholders of the Aguluzigbo and beyond.
Handing over the N10 million worth of draft to the board chairman of Victor Umeh Education Foundation, Reverend Father Peter Uzoezie, Umeh, said that he had taken it as a passion to empower the youths for the good of the society.
He challenged the beneficiaries to avoid any form of social vices and focus on their studies to enable them to become the best for themselves and their families in future
A First Class, Chemical Engineering graduate of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Mr Chukwuma Nwanazoba who was a product of the Foundation, thanked Umeh for the opportunity and advised other beneficiaries to be outstanding in all their endeavours as a way of appreciating their benefactor.
Mr Chinonso Onyeanusi, a student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, who is currently benefiting from the scheme, assured to be the best possible.
Earlier, board chairman, Victor Umeh Education Foundation, Reverend Father Peter Uzoezie, noted that the scholarship which was meant for the indigents has benefited the society greatly.
He appreciated the benefactor for his gesture and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilise the opportunity optimally.
It was gathered that the Victor Umeh Education Foundation produced 73 graduates and one PhD holder in the 2021 and 2022 academic year.
