A man, Oluwagbenga, has dragged his wife, Mopelola, before Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, praying that their two-year-old wedlock be dissolved on the grounds of lack of love and irreconcilable differences.

Olugbenga stated that their marriage began to experience crisis when his wife refused to attend his church.

Olugbenga also said that Mopelola had a delay in childbearing as a result of virginal blockage, but that she conceived and bore a set of twins after a revelation was given in this regard in his church.

The plaintiff explained that the defendant later walked out of their marriage and took their two children along with her.

He stated that she has since denied him access to their children.

He further said that his wife dragged him to a radio programme with the intention of soiling his name.

Olugbenga pleaded for their children’s custody.

Mopelola denied all the allegations brought against her by her husband and refused that her husband had custody of their children.

Olugbenga stated in his evidence that, “My lord, I want an end to the union between me and my wife because she refused that our marriage work.

“My wife is stubborn and defiant and flouted my orders at will.

“We started having misunderstandings in our marriage a few weeks after we got married because she refused to attend my church.

“I begged and pleaded with her, but she remained adamant.

“She later promised to go with me to church if I paid her bride price.

“I did, but she reneged on her promise.

“She later started attending service in my church once a month after I put pressure on her.

“My wife was unfriendly and unkind to me for the two years that our marriage lasted.

“She refused to give me the needed attention and was negligent of my welfare.

“My wife obviously never loved me.

“She had a delay in conceiving, and it was revealed after series of tests were carried out on her that she had virginal blockage,  which made it impossible for her to conceive and have children.

“We therefore resigned to fate.

“We became hopeful after there was a revelation in my church that she was going to conceive and have a set of twins.

“This came to pass, and I reasoned that our relationship would improve, but it never was.

“My wife became more distant and unapproachable.

“We were relating like strangers till she decided one day to pack her belongings and leave my house.

“She has since then refused me access to our children.

“Our family members, church, and friends had tried their best in ending the feud between us, but she refused we were reconciled.

“Not satisfied, she dragged me to a radio programme with the intention of soiling my name, but she failed in this regard.

“My lord, I want to move on with my life.

“I, therefore, pray that an end be brought to our wedlock by the court.

“I further beseech this honourable court to grant me access to our children so that they would know me and that we may create a bonding one with another.”

The court president,  Mrs S.M Akintayo, after she heard the plaintiff adjourned the case.
