I have been coughing now for the past two weeks with sore throat and some productive mucus. The situation has not improved despite some treatment. Kindly advise me on what to do.

Ibukun (by SMS)

Long-lasting cough may cause throat irritation and occasional swallowing discomfort. A cough lasting over two weeks with mucus and sore throat often suggests a viral or mild bacterial respiratory infection. Triggers include recent exposure to illness and airway irritation. Symptom relief involves staying hydrated, using throat lozenges, and avoiding irritants like smoke.

If symptoms persist beyond three weeks, worsen, or include fever or breathing difficulty, consult a doctor for further evaluation to rule out complications such as bronchitis or sinus infection.
