The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has countered claims by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, that her security details have been fully restored.
Tribune Online reports that police escorts assigned to the Speaker were recently withdrawn.
The Lagos Police boss, while confirming the withdrawal of the policemen attached to Meranda, attributed it to an audit of all police personnel assigned to VIPs in the state.
He added that the audit of officers attached to the Speaker had been concluded and that all personnel had been reinstated.

However, in an interview with the press on Friday, the Speaker refuted the CP’s claim, insisting that her security details had yet to be fully restored.
According to her, the security detail assigned to her as Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly includes 12 policemen, four DSS operatives, and two anti-bomb. However, she is currently being protected by only three or four policemen.
She said, “As you can see, I have my people here with me, and God is with me. Well, I have three or four policemen, whereas my normal convoy, my team, includes 12 policemen, four DSS operatives, and two anti-bomb. But this morning, I don’t have that.”
