Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic transformation and infrastructure renewal, announcing new industrial projects and road interventions designed to stimulate growth and create jobs across the state.
This is just as the governor called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state to close ranks, intensify mobilisation, and canvass more supporters in preparation for the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure on Friday, August 29, 2025, the governor disclosed that the state had signed investment agreements for the establishment of a cement factory, a fertilizer plant, and a petrochemical industry.
According to him, these projects will not only strengthen the state’s industrial base but also provide employment opportunities for thousands of residents.

He said, “We are deliberate in our approach to revamp the economy. These industries are strategic because they will boost our revenue base, provide jobs, and enhance Ondo State’s competitiveness.
“At the same time, we are committed to completing all ongoing infrastructural projects, including those inherited from past administrations.
“I want to assure our people that all our ongoing infrastructural projects, including those inherited by this administration, will be completed.”
The governor also revealed plans for the state to assume responsibility for select federal roads, stressing that improved road infrastructure was critical to economic development.
He listed the Ikare-Akoko, Idanre-Akure, and Okitipupa-Igbokoda projects among ongoing interventions while pledging further action on other critical corridors.
While emphasizing governance, Aiyedatiwa equally charged APC members to strengthen grassroots mobilization in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which targets the registration of at least 1,000 new members per ward.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the APC must remain the rallying point for progressive governance and sustainable development in Nigeria, noting that President Bola Tinubu had already laid a solid foundation for economic recovery, infrastructure renewal, and social investment.
Aiyedatiwa stressed that the task ahead requires unity of purpose within the party and said, “We cannot afford to be divided at this critical time. The APC is the vehicle of good governance, and our responsibility as loyal members is to strengthen the structure, deepen mobilization, and ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to receive overwhelming support, especially from Ondo State.
“This is our party, and it is our collective responsibility to make it stronger. The Renewed Hope Initiative has been structured to build the party from the grassroots, and our target is nothing less than one thousand new members per ward.
“We must mobilize, we must organize, and we must be consistent in our engagements. Regular stakeholders meetings such as this are meant to keep us united, informed, and ready for the future,” the governor said.
Also speaking, the state Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin also commended Aiyedatiwa for convening the meeting and for sustaining regular interaction with party stakeholders.
He stressed the importance of reconnecting with the grassroots in order to consolidate the party’s strength across the state, saying the survival and dominance of the APC depend largely on the commitment of its members at the ward and local government levels.
“We must all go back to our wards and local governments and redouble our efforts. This is our party, and there is no other party for us apart from the APC.
“Unity and commitment at the grassroots are critical if we want to sustain our dominance. Come rain, come shine, our identity remains APC, and we must carry that banner with pride,” Adetimehin declared.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan reaffirmed that the APC remained united and indivisible in his constituency.
“In our area, the APC is one. There are no factions, no divisions. We are solidly behind the governor and the party leadership, and we will continue to work in unity to ensure our strength is felt across the state,” Olabimtan said.
On his part, Director, Corporate Services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s performance, describing his developmental strides as visible across all 18 local government areas of the state.
“Mr. Governor, you have done well and you are still doing well. Your developmental initiatives can be seen across the entire state. The only thing left is to encourage you to do even more. While the last presidential election was successful, we believe that with more work and greater mobilization, the APC can achieve an even higher margin of victory in 2027,” Abegunde declared.
The meeting was attended by top political leaders, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo; Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, among other prominent stakeholders.
