MUSLIMS have been implored to conduct their finances with regard to the dictates of Islam in order to guarantee success in the world and salvation in the hereafter.
This was the consensus at the Annual General Meeting of the Welfare Foundation of the Al-Ameen, an Islamic cooperative thrift and credit association, which was held in Lagos.
The chairman of the foundation, Mr Hammed Adegoke, implored Muslims to leave usury-practising cooperative societies and embrace Islamic cooperatives like the foundation and free themselves from the wrath of Allah.
He said the foundation was established to practise the teachings of the Qur’an and provide Muslims with halal alternative to interest-based finance.
According to him, the foundation has improved the lives of members by providing them with job opportunities, empowering them through interest-free loans, through provision of investment opportunities and shares in commercial ventures.
The missioner of the foundation, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladoyin, in a sermon, implored members to embrace the practice of will specifying the sharing of their property according to the Sharia.
The AGM also witnessed the appointment of a new set of officers of the foundation.
Alhaji Munirudeen Badmus emerged the new president while Alhaji Sikiru Lawal was returned as the vice president. Mr Bashiru Irinoye was retained as the secretary.
