MUSLIMS have been charged to prioritise the knowledge of the Qur’an and apply the lessons to their daily lives.
Dr Mahmud Danjuma gave the advice in a lecture at the closing of the Kwara State Qur’an competition held at the Ilorin Stadium Complex. The competition was a prelude to the just-concluded National Qur’an Recitation Competition in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Dr Danjuma advised parents to ensure adequate training of their children in Islamic and Western education to enable them become responsible citizens in the future.
Ustaz Haroon Hassan Bolakale had emerged the overall winner of the competition. Other winners in other categories were Muhammad Sulaiman, Mariam Issa-Onilu, Jemilat Tijani, Halima Adekanye, Salima Abubakar, Khadija Ibrahim, Hazeema Salahudeen, Taofikat Alafara, Khadija Ajijolakewu Aisha Shuaib, AbdulLateef Issa, Yusuf Yusuf and Ali AbdulLateef.
The chairman of the state committee on Qur’an recitation competition, Alhaji Shehu Abdulgafar, applauded the state government for its support and allocation of land to the committee to establish a centre for Qur’an memorisation.
The Emir of Ilọrin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, commended the participants for painstakingly memorising the Qur’an.
The Emir advised the Qur’an memorisers to use their knowledge for the benefit of mankind.
