The Muslim World League (MWL) has distributed ₦2.1 billion in cash to 2,000 orphans in Kebbi State to support their education.
Speaking at the event, Al-Amin Ahmed Hamza, the Acting Director General of the MWL in Nigeria, highlighted the organization’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, particularly in assisting orphans.
According to Hamza, out of the ₦7.6 billion earmarked for several selected states in Nigeria, Kebbi State received the largest share of ₦2.1 billion due to its high number of orphans.
He explained that each beneficiary will receive between ₦400,000 and ₦1 million, and the disbursement will be closely monitored to ensure the funds are used effectively.
The Acting Director General urged wealthy individuals to follow the example of the MWL by providing support to orphans and the less privileged members of society.
In his remarks, Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, praised the MWL for its commitment to aiding orphans, especially in the education sector.
He also appealed to the guardians of the beneficiaries to ensure the funds are wisely spent on the children’s education to improve their future prospects.
One of the beneficiaries, Hassana Yahaya, expressed gratitude to the organization for the financial assistance, which will help her pursue her education.
