Murdered 17 years girl: Bayelsa govt sues for peace, tasks security to hunt suspect

THE Bayelsa State Government has condemned in strong terms the gruesome murder of a 12 years girl, Miss Faith at Biogbolo – Epie area of Yenagoa on Monday night.

Contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Hon Jonathan Obuebite has called on residents of the state to remain calm and avoid any further act that will disrupt the existing peace in the state as security agents intensify hunt of the suspected murderer of the teenage girl.

Reacting to the sad event that took place at Biogbolo – Epie community in the state capital, the Commissioner warned residents against taking the laws into their hands in the feat of rage.

Obuebite noted that it is purely a criminal act and the state security agencies are working tirelessly to unravel the mystery behind the killings.

Also the information boss used the opportunity to dissuade the rumour making the rounds that the deceased was mutilated, he says it is untrue as the police commissioner has confirmed that the remains of the teenage girl was found intact.

He advised residents in the area to remain peace abiding and not see it as an ethnic or tribal issue as Bayelsa state is a home to all; he craved their indulgence to allow the law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties of unravelling the mystery surrounding the incident.

More so, the State Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba has assured the state government that his men will stop at nothing to fish out the perpetrator of the dastardly act and bring them to book.

Obuebite says that the state government is committed to ensure that the state is peaceful and assured the family of Miss Faith of the support of the state government, security agents and the good people of the state.

He maintained that youths in the area should not use the incident to disrupt the peace of the state, he also urged residents of the Biogbolo area of Yenagoa to remain peaceful, law abiding and go about their lawful duties without any fear of molestation or discrimination as everything is being done to guarantee their safety.
