Mother of 3 drinks rat poison in Enugu, hospitalied

THERE was pandemonium at the weekend at 10, Umuezeoha Ojotta, Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government of Enugu State following the alleged sudden collapse of a woman suspected to have swallowed rat poison.

Reports had it that the victim, Nwakwe Nkechi, a mother of three, had on Saturday, April.28, 2018 drank a rat killer medicine with alleged intention to commit suicide.

It was also gathered the woman who is now responding to treatment at a hospital in Enugu metropolis was said to be having a marital problem with her husband, Nwakwe Ugochukwu and as a result, decided to take rat killer medicine in order to end her life.

Confirming the story on Sunday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said the hapless woman was promptly rushed to the Good Shepherd Hospital Uwani in Enugu where she is said to be responding to treatment.

Amarizu stated that the law enforcement agents have begun a full-scale investigation into the unfortunate incident with a view to ascertains the remote and immediate cause of the matter.
