MANY residents of Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area Delta State have been enrolled into the Delta State Health Insurance Scheme, courtesy of Blessing O. Foundation International.
Nigerian Tribune reports that this is part of efforts to enhance inclusive healthcare access for the underprivileged in the state.
Speaking at the registration event in Ibusa, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, commended Blessing O. Foundation International for its contribution to the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI).
He emphasised that the initiative is crucial for expanding healthcare coverage across the state.
Represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) & ICT, Mr. Emmanuel Akpofure, Dr. Akpoveta urged well-meaning individuals, groups and organisations within Ibusa and Oshimili North Local Government Area to sponsor more indigent persons under the scheme.
He highlighted that with just ₦7,000 per year, sponsors can provide enrollees with access to quality healthcare.
He further encouraged collective action in fostering a healthier and more equitable society, especially during challenging economic times.
Speaking on behalf of the foundation, the Secretary-General, Mrs. Henrietta Chukwuemeka explained that Blessing O. Foundation operates six outreach arms, including support for orphans, survivors of sexual abuse, drug addicts and widows.
She noted that the ‘When Widows Pray Movement’, an initiative under the foundation, provides a spiritual and physical support system for widows across different states.
The sponsor of the 100 enrollees, Mr. Frank Onwuachi, commended his wife, the founder of Foundation, for her dedication to social impact.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the foundation’s humanitarian efforts and contributing to the wellbeing of his community.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to both the foundation and the state government for creating a platform that grants them access to affordable and quality healthcare.
This marks the third time the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative has been launched in Ibusa, reinforcing the community’s commitment to expanding healthcare access and supporting social welfare initiatives.
