
THE Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh and the Minister of State, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri were conspicuously absent during this year World Food Day celebration.
The World Food Day which is an annual event was set aside by the United Nations, and it is celebrated across the world.
Recall that during last year’s celebration, Chief Ogbeh and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector held a rally from the Ministry’s headquarters to Unity Fountain in Abuja.
But this year, it was learnt that at the eve of the Chief Ogbeh left Nigeria for an official assignment. It was also gathered that the Minister of State, Senator Lokpobiri was in the country but was absent at the rally.
A press conference which was meant to be addressed by the Minister was scheduled to take place by 11:00 am, but no Minister was available to address the press.

Meanwhile, the rally took place and had in attendance the Country Representative of Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nation, the Head of Agriculture, ECOWAS and other stakeholders.
The new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry was also absent at the rally, while the Minister was represented by a director in the Ministry.
