Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, on Wednesday, engaged in gun battle with Boko Haram members around Gajire Village, Yobe State, for about 15 minutes.
The troops were in a clearance operation within Jororo and Tombaeji villages in Geidam Local Government Area of the state when they encountered the terrorists.
Confirming this in a statement, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, who is the acting director, Army Public Relations, said the troops overpowered the terrorists and killed four of them and captured one.
According to him, the troops also recovered two General Purpose Machine Guns (GMPG), two AK-47 rifles and 144 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, from the terrorists.
In addition, he said they also recovered two KASEA branded motorcycles.
“The troops have continued to patrol the area in search of possible remnants of the terrorists.
“The ever vigilant troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, have continued their routine operations, maintaining vigilance to prevent further actions by the terrorists in their respective areas of operations.”
