Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, a Minna-based medical practitioner and former Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services in Niger State, has been honoured by the Minna Emirate Youths Association (MEYA) for his outstanding support of youth development initiatives in the state.
The recognition took place during the graduation ceremony for 250 young beneficiaries of MEYA’s skills acquisition programs at the Emir of Minna’s palace behind the Minna township stadium on Saturday.
Bashir Abubakar, President of MEYA, commended Dr. Jibrin for his dedication to empowering youth, particularly in education and skills development, highlighting that his contributions have positively impacted the lives of many young people in Niger State.
In his response, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin praised the association for its efforts in equipping young individuals with entrepreneurial skills, stressing that “I am truly impressed with the association’s initiative to provide training in areas such as baking, cat breeding, shoes cobbling, solar power installations, and many more”.
Dr. Jibrin expressed his happiness with the positive impact of the association, saying, “I have consistently supported MEYA, and I am delighted to witness the outcome of their programmes.”
He pointed out the innovative approach of the association, which includes providing starter packs and apprenticeship opportunities for trainees to help them become self-sufficient entrepreneurs.
“We plan to send them for apprenticeship programmes, which will cost about N1 million. I have discussed this with the association’s president, and I will cover the expenses,” he declared .
Furthermore, Dr. Jibrin also praised the incumbent administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for its dedication to youths development in the state
He said, “The government is making significant strides in supporting youth initiatives, and we are grateful to the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Faruq Umaru Bahago for his contributions to the association.”
