Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has opened up about the toll her latest movie, Thin Line, took on her both physically and emotionally. As the film continues to make waves in cinemas, Aigbe revealed that the journey of bringing the project to life was intense.

In a statement that emanated from her, the actress shared that the production was marred by several challenges, including health scare.

Recalling a particularly harrowing moment, she disclosed how she woke up one morning with a severely swollen eye during the shoot. Concerned about her condition, she sought medical attention, only to be told she was suffering from a severe infection.

“It was terrifying,” Aigbe admitted. “The doctors advised me to halt all activities to focus on my recovery. I had no choice but to suspend production for several days, which caused a significant delay. It wasn’t just the physical pain but the emotional stress of wondering if we could meet our deadlines.”

Despite the setback, the actress pressed on, determined not to let the challenges derail her vision for the movie. She credited her resilience and the support of her cast and crew for helping her push through the difficult period.

The movie Thin Line delves into themes of betrayal, love, and redemption, and has received positive reviews since its premiere. Fans and critics alike have lauded Aigbe’s performance and the gripping storyline, which she says was inspired by real-life events.

However, the journey to the silver screen wasn’t without its share of controversy. Some fans took to social media to question Aigbe’s decision to share her personal struggles as part of the movie’s promotion.

Many pointed out that this isn’t the first time Aigbe has referenced personal hardships in her career. Just a few weeks ago, the actress made headlines after losing a section of her home to a mysterious fire. Some critics accused her of using her losses to generate sympathy and drive box office sales.

One fan wrote, “We love your work, but please don’t overdo the emotional angle. Let the movie speak for itself.” Another added, “Your story is inspiring, but constantly tying your personal tragedies to your projects might backfire.”

Responding to the criticism, Aigbe insisted that her transparency isn’t about seeking pity but about showing her fans the reality of her journey.

“People see the glitz and glamour and think it’s all easy. But behind the scenes, it’s a lot of hard work, sweat, and, yes, even blood. I share my story to inspire, not to seek sympathy,” she said.

Despite the mixed reactions, the actress remains steadfast in her belief that Thin Line is one of her most personal and rewarding projects to date. “I poured my heart and soul into this movie,” she said. “It’s not just a film; it’s a piece of me.”

As the movie continues its impressive run in cinemas, Aigbe expressed gratitude to her fans for their support. “Every time I see the positive feedback, it makes all the pain and sacrifices worth it. I’m so grateful to everyone who has watched and appreciated Thin Line.”

Industry insiders have also noted how Aigbe’s vulnerability and work ethic have endeared her to fans and collaborators alike. “She’s a force to be reckoned with,” one filmmaker remarked. “Her dedication to her craft is evident in everything she does.”
