The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber, Senator Shehu Sani, alleged on Saturday that the memo written by the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to President Muhammadu Buhari, amounted to a secret plot by the governor to replace the president in 2019.
Sani, in a statement he posted on his Instagram page, stated that the governor was guilty of similar allegations he levelled against the president in his own domain of governance.
While reacting to el-Rufai’s leaked 30-page memo to the president, Sani said that the governor was entitled to his opinion but added that the memo revealed a secret plan by the governor to present himself as a better alternative to President Buhari.
He asked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to immediately discipline the governor for acts of disloyalty.
“The governor is entitled to his opinion and perception but the contradiction and irony of it are basically two; first is that he accused me of being disloyal and disrespectful to the president and the party for speaking out my mind; and now he has done his own cunningly by criticising the president and the party and he disguised it as a memo and leaked it out to the press. That also qualifies him as “disloyal and disrespectful;” the difference is that mine was blunt while his own was dubious.
“Secondly, for all the issues he raised against the president, he is worse in his space of governance, whether it is the existence of cabal or politics of exclusion or incompetence or public perception.
“The difference is that the president is tolerant to criticism and alternative views.” he wrote.
