At least three people were feared dead as unknown gunmen attacked the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, in front of the Kogi state polytechnic, Lokoja, the state capital.
Melaye had stopped in front of the school where he addressed his supporters, including some students of the school over the political crisis in the senatorial district.
He had barely finished addressing the crowd when some armed men emerged from NATACO end of the road and started shooting sporadically and indiscriminately.
The gunshot lasted for over 30 minutes and the Lokoja-Abuja highway blocked
