Baby Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, the grandson of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, has become an online sensation barely 24 hours after his arrival, amassing over 140,000 Instagram followers overnight.
Rakeem, the son of Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian music star Juma Jux, made his Instagram debut on Sunday under the handle @rakeem_mk.
The account, managed by his parents, currently features just one collaborative post with Priscilla, yet the follower count has already soared, with fans from Nigeria and Tanzania leading the charge.
The newborn’s popularity skyrocketed after Iyabo Ojo proudly announced the birth on her page, declaring herself the “sexiest grandma in town.”
In the viral clip, she beams as she sings to her grandson, saying, “Say hello to the latest sexiest grandma in town, my grandson is the cutest.”
Priscilla also confirmed in a Monday post that her baby boy was delivered on Sunday, putting to rest rumours that she had secretly given birth weeks earlier.
“Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala…24.08.25,” she wrote alongside a blurred image of the newborn.
The excitement comes months after the couple first announced they were expecting in July, sharing matching photos in white T-shirts and denim with ultrasound prints and the caption: “MOM & DAD 🤍✨ BLESSED • GRATEFUL • THANKFUL.”
Their marriage earlier in the year, tagged #JP2025, stretched from February to May and included a traditional nikah, a civil wedding, a white wedding, and a grand finale in Tanzania.
For now, Rakeem’s face remains hidden in public posts, though glimpses have surfaced in family photos: one shows him in a printed animal onesie with tiny matching socks, another in a crib beside a giant teddy bear.
A video also captures Priscilla being wheeled out of the hospital, cradling her son as she stepped into motherhood.
On Snapchat, she later revealed the drama of his early arrival. “We had to rush to the hospital at 3 a.m.! Contractions isn’t a joke. All plans to slay at the hospital and create content were cancelled,” she wrote, adding that her son arrived earlier than expected, missing his father’s birthday, which had been his due date.
Rakeem’s name itself is a blend of his parents’ wishes. At a baby shower in Canada, Juma casually suggested “Rakeem,” while Priscilla, expecting a girl at the time, leaned toward “Prince.” Both names fused into the now-official Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala.
Beyond the buzz around his name and birth, the baby has also attracted attention for his unique identity, tying him to three nationalities — Nigerian, Tanzanian, and Canadian.
Iyabo Ojo revealed that a naming ceremony will soon take place in Lagos, even as congratulatory messages continue to pour in for the Ojo and Mkambala families.
As of press time, baby Rakeem’s followers continue to increase.
