Man remanded in prison for killing lover and child

A 30-year-old man was last Friday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly murdering his lover and her child.

Aihuaen Elvis was accused of killing his lover, Blessing Ajayi Iyomieju (28), and her five-year-old son, Ogomide Ajayi.

Elvis, a resident of 34 Omolaja Street, Obadore, Igando Lagos, was alleged to have on August 21, 2016, at about 11 p.m., beaten the late Blessing to death and dumped her lifeless body inside a septic tank.

He was also alleged to have on the same day at about 11.30 p.m., killed the son of the deceased, Ogomide, by strangulating him and hitting him on the head with a big stone.

Furthermore, the Elvis was alleged to have dumped the lifeless body of the boy in a bush near Iba Bridge along LASU-Iba road.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Nwadione, were contrary to and punishable under sections 221 and 163(B) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The Chief Magistrate, Oluwayemisi Adelaja, ordered the remand of the Edo State-born Elvis in prison, following a remand application filed by CSP Tijani Fatai of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti-Yaba, Lagos, pending when Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) would issue advice on the matter.

The matter has been adjourned till March 1, 2017, for mention.
