A Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 22-year-old man, Moses Daniel, over alleged trespass and theft.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, who ordered the remand of the defendant in prison, adjourned the case until Feb. 28, for trial.
Shekarau said that the defendant should be in prison to enable the police conduct proper investigation.
The accused who resides at Ruga Auta, Aso Pada, Mararaba, is facing a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Hamen Donald, told the court that one Abdullahi Kabiru of same address with the defendant reported the matter at `A’ Police Division, Mararaba on Jan. 25
“The complainant alleged that on same date, the accused person trespassed into his house and stole some of his valuable items.
“The items stolen include, Infinix Note 2 phone, valued at N35,000, and its receipt, a wallet containing ATM card and other items valued at N6,000,’’ Donald said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
