A 26-year-old man, Peter Ejovwoke, charged with being a member a secret cult and unlawful possession of a gun, on Monday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Ejovwoke, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of conspiracy, unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon and being a member of a secret cult.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on July 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Ago Hausa, Ajeromi in Ajegunle-Apapa area of Lagos.

Perezi said that the police caught Ejovwoke with a locally-made pistol and two cartridges.
He also said that the defendant belonged to a secret cult known as Vikings Confraternity.
Perezi added that the defendant and his accomplices breached the peace by fighting in public.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 42(a), 33 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
He said that the offences also breached Section 3(1) of the Armed Robbery and Firearm Special Act, Law of the Federation, 2014.
The magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties.
Mogaji also ruled that one of the sureties must be a clergyman.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for mention.
