Man docked for allegedly assaulting colleague

THE Police on Wednesday arraigned one Adelugba Gbenga in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting his colleague.

The defendant of Wuse, Abuja, was docked on charges bordering on criminal force and assault, offences he pleaded not guilty to.

The prosecutor, John Okpa, told the court that one Ebele Okafor of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on March 31.

He said the defendant acted in a violent manner without any provocation and battered the complainant, thereby causing her severe body pains.

He said the defendant and the complainant work in the same fast food eatery ‎in Kubwa, Abuja, adding that the offence contravened Section 265 of the Penal Code.‎

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, however, ordered that the defendant and complainant should ‎fill a form at the court’s registry to maintain peace pending the determination of the case.

Marafa granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the matter until June 11 for hearing.
