A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man has been found beheaded in Benin City, Edo State, with the body dumped by the side of the road.
The headless body of the victim was discovered at First East Circular Junction on Sokponba road in Benin City.
The victim appeared to have been dragged along the road as there were bruises on his remains.
Residents of the area, who gathered to catch a glimpse of the body, said they did not know the victim.
Many feared the incident was connected to renewed cult killings, as the area the body was found is notorious for cult-related killings and activities.
Policemen who came from Adesuwa Police Division to remove the severed body refused to speak on the incident.
